Release of 2009 Show Title & Information Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock....
RAMSEY, Ind. - On June 20, Director of Bands Gary Crisp released the show title for the 2009 Marching Band Season. The North Harrison Cougar Band will perform "It's About Time..." It is an original show by Michael Pote and Michael McIntosh. The show is based on the "Melting Clocks" of Salvador Dali. Mike takes songs by Cindy Lauper and the Steve Miller Band along with his original work and "melts the sounds" to connect the past with the future. From the opening sounds of the Westminster Chimes to the driving rhythms of the final movement, "time keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin, into the future"
Cougar Band Celebrates 2008-09 Year on Saturday Hobson named '09 Sousa award winner
RAMSEY, Ind. - On May 16, the North Harrison Cougar Band gathered to celebrate the past school year. Numerous members received awards including band letters (awarded to those completing their first year), service chevrons (each student completing a full year), show patches (each marching member), and concert gold medals (each concert band student). Also, each senior received a plaque, recognizing their participation in the program.
Three other awards were presented by the band department and the alumni program. The Directors Award was presented to Michal Abel. This award is in honor of a senior who exemplifies the character education program at North Harrison.
Lucas Hobson was awarded both the John Phillips Sousa and Clayton Norris Scholarship Award. The John Phillips Sousa Award is presented to the most outstanding senior band member. The Clayton Norris Scholarship Award, given by the North Harrison Band Alumni Association, is a $500 one year scholarship,
